Ms May Choi, General Manager of the Nishimura Japanese Restaurant was awarded the “The Minister’s Award for Overseas Promotion of Japanese Food” in recognition of her long time and great contribution to promote Chinese-Japanese food and culture. Witnessed by the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Ms Choi received the Award from the Japan Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Moriyama during the presentation ceremony held in Tokyo on 30 October 2015.
The first lady to obtain this honour in Hong Kong’s history
This special award was awarded annually by the Japanese Government to those who has made outstanding contribution to increase Japan seafood and food export and promote Japanese cuisine. Every year only five persons are selected and Ms Choi is the first lady in Hong Kong’s history to obtain this award.
Since 1997, the Sunwah Group and the Sunwah Japanese Food Co Ltd have been increasing the magnitude to increase import of Japanese seafood, processed food and sake to Hong Kong.
