As the coronavirus is hitting worldwide, Dr. Jonathan Choi continues to source anti-epidemic supplies to help relieve the shortage supplies of these anti-epidemic materials to the ASEAN and European partners. Dr. Choi expressed his concern and gave support to the front-line medical workers.
From 24 to 26 March 2020, Sunwah donated 50,000 medical face masks to the Cambodia Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, Ministry of Culture and Arts and the Cambodia National University of Management. Sunwah has invested in Cambodia for more than 24 years. Earlier, Sunwah has committed a donation of US$500,000 to support Cambodia’s educational and technological developments.
On 31 March 2020, Sunwah donated 40,000 medical face masks to the Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Vietnam National University in Hanoi. The same including face masks, sanitizers and infrared sanitized lamps were donated to HCMC City Government and the HCMC National University.
On 31 March 2020, Sunwah donated 100,000 medical face masks to France via the French Embassy in Beijing. The Cultural and Educational Consul Mr. Mikael Hautchamp received on behalf of the French Government. For years, the Jonathan KS Choi Foundation has been in co-operation with the French Embassy in Beijing to promote Sino-French cultural and arts exchange, sponsor “Festival Croisements” activities and exhibitions on Sino-French cultural heritages.
On 4 April 2020, Sunwah donated 20,000 medical face masks to the Penang State Government of Malaysia. Chief Minister of Penang Mr. Chow Kon Yeow received on behalf of the Malaysian Government. Consul General of China in Penang Mr. Lu Shiwei witnessed the occasion. In the first quarter of 2020, Dr. Jonathan Choi visited Malaysia three times and met with the chief ministers to discuss the Belt and Road Initiative and the Guangdong-HK-Macao Bay Area for co-operations and its benefits to the ASEAN countries. Invest KL has invited Sunwah to set up a branch office in Malaysia.
